Birthdays + Love/hate Winter

The latest Happy Birthday shout out goes to 20 young year old Catherine who had her party bash at Camperdown the other week.

The evening was choc full of fun, that included a delicious array of Filipino food prepared by yours truly Catherine's relatives, Krispy Kreme donuts (could not resist to bring these), Nintendo Wii (which my cousin Phillip could not stop playing the whole night) and of course the lovely Catherine.

Only issue of the evening was that Cat discovered a half eaten Polo bun and a green tea sticky rice ball inside the bag which had her present from me.

Tsk tsk tsk

Silly me....

Those were two day old food stuffs. Eeeewwwwww.

Sexy mommas

And that reminds me, my birthday is fast approaching at the end of this month and I'll be turning the rip old age of 23!!

Crap that's old!

But hey, that's Michael Jordan's jersey number. Boom!! ^_^

---

On a serious note, be careful when on the road folks, driving home from Cat's party I was suffering microsleeps and almost crashed in to another car.

I know that I shouldn't drive with lack of sleep but I didn't realise how exhausted I was till I drove.

Please take care.

Saturday dinner

Eating out at a Japanese restaurant with the sexy bunch, this evening involved a minor argument with the manager regarding their chicken teriyaki, which could have been easily resolved if they could understand English.

Then later, dessert at Max Brenners, with me over dosing on chocolate goodness (big chocolate truffle, chocolate nut fudge brownie and a Reeses Pieces milkshake).

Hotness

Death by chocolate

Dessert was marred by me spotting one of bestie's ex's whom she now hates with a vengeance!

Love/hate Winter

No, no, not Anna Wintour, but Winter! Yes, Winter is definitely here, today it was 17 degrees celcius in Sydney. 17!! It was like 26 last week! :/

One thing I love about Australia are the seasons. We actually have hot and cold weather, not like in the Singapore where its hot or hotter.

And I have a love/hate interest for Winter. I welcome cold weather. I actually enjoy snuggling up under the covers with that special someone to keep warm and escape from the cold, or not feeling the effects of 30 degree weather with it being a dry heat, and of course I like wearing Winter clothes (3/4 length cashmere coats, gloves and scarves). If I was bothered, possibly shemaghs and ear muffs.

Now there's nothing like the wind flapping your 3/4 length coat whilst you walk down the street strutting like nothing can stand in your way.

All good and fun yeah?
.
.
.
.
Not for your life!!!

Don't even blink for a second, because yes it's all rainbows and candy with the above, but there is the bad side of this cold dark place:

1. Waking up on a chilly morning and the tiles in the bathroom are freezing cold. (no heater can fix this).
2. Your ass sitting on a cold part of the sofa.
3. Waiting an extra 10 seconds for the hot water to kick-in in the shower.
4. Your hot coffee not staying so hot because of the cold weather.
5. Having to wear big chunky coats, scarves, gloves, etc. which is heavy and makes me feel fat, plus having to take these off and then put em back on when you enter in and out of buildings.

TV

SPOILERS!!!

24: Holy shiet, mofo, womaniser Vice President is screwing things up!! Bastard Chang has Jack's newphew, Jake. And Jack's father?! Why is he a villain?!

Lost: Oh crap!! Who the hell is that apparition Jacob? Will John live? He has too! He's an integral character in the series. Honestly, Captain America (Jack) is giving me the shits, he's too closed off since returning back to camp and he loves Juliet too much. As per usual I want Charlie to die, he is soooooo annoying.

One Tree Hill: At last!! Lucas finds out his father Dan killed his beloved uncle, Keith. And Peyton's stalker is finally goneskies after being beat up by girl power, with the help of Brooke.

Singapore! + Scary + Shopping + Part hardy

Apologies for no updates but during the week I was busy with work and ever since I touched down in Singapore, I've been busy non stop.

OK as I was checking in for my 8.30am flight at Sydney airport, there was a hurdle. The lady behind the desk requires the last 4 digits of my mother's Amex card or else I won't be able to get my boarding pass. No problem. I give my mom a call. Her phone is off. [-_-] After looking at the time, it's about 2am in HK. I try my sister (they're both in HK on a holiday), her phone is off.

Sydney Airport

OK honestly, why is there a need to keep your phone off? Unless you have enemies, what if you need to be contacted in an emergency?

People please keep your phone(s) on at all times!

Luckily, the guy at the service desk recognised my last name and asked if I was Myrla's (my mom's name) son. Of course I said yes and he quickly apologised and gave me my boarding pass. Not only that, he said I should've mentioned I was her son, and he also gave me access to the Singapore airlines First class/Silver Kris lounge! Awesome!! If I knew it would be like this, I would've mentioned my mom's name everywhere. XD

First class/Silver Kris lounge

What can you do at this lounge? Watch TV on flatscreens, free food, free drinks (including alcohol), free magazines/newspapers, access to the Internet, bedrooms for short naps, etc. Very luxurious, but it doesn't compare to the size and facilities as the lounge in Singapore (Changi airport).

---

On the flight SQ220, I was seated next to a cute Aussie/Singapore girl. She was rather tired though, I noticed her sleeping for most of the flight.

To kill the boredom, I watched Babel which was OK, don't think it really deserved all the hype but Rinko Kikuki's performance was outstanding, she should've received an award.

8 hrs later, I arrived to this:

Marina Mandarin hotel

Compared to other hotels, Marina Mandarin totally lives up to its 5 star rating. I only have a premier room (stingy work) but it's still very nice.

My room

I ate with Li Wee at Ichiban Boshi, a Japanese restaurant where I had a beef steak thing that was cooking on a BBQ. A real yakiniku experience will be reserved for later. :)

Being typical Pogi, I left my sunglasses at the restaurant. :/ Luckily for me, Li Wee called them later that night and arranged for me to pick them up tomorrow.

---

Scary

Work lady, Li Wee met up with me at the hotel and showed me to our office (since I arrived their on Friday around 1.30pm, which is still a work day for SG). With the lights off, our SG office looks scary and kinda reminds me of scenes from the English version of The Grudge (Japanese version is called Ju-on).

*shudders*

*cries*

Shopping

Now after settling in, knowing how to get to work from the hotel. I have to do some shopping.

A couple of hours later................

Shopping haul #1

I know, I know. It's not much but I didn't want to splurge straight away. Pogi has to be a smart shopper. So far, 2 Zara suits (black and dk brown - which are fitted, slimming and cropped. Hmmmz I'll compare it to that Dior Homme suit I posted a short while ago. Also two jackets, one funkii dk camel blazer, and a contemporary very Eurody look black jacket.

Oh and a FHM magazine. ^_^

---

Party Hardy

I met up with Li Wee again, two former FRS workers; Wendy and Elbert (who is Filo too!), as well as Wendy's friend Jenny.

We ate out at a restaurant next to Singapore river. I think the area we were at was called Bicao?

Li Wee and I were the last to arrive, because I errrmm take a while to get ready. Little did I know that the others already pre-ordered food. One in particular was stingray. And they did NOT warn me it had chili. As soon as it put it in my mouth and started chewing. I felt the effects.

My lips felt swollen. :( And my tongue was on fire. I ordered duck, and that kept me happy for the rest of the meal.

Now off to do some fun stuff. They took me to Insomnia, which was in one of the best locations and reminded me of Greenwood. It was conveniently located in a section of an old converted convent. Very classic.

A couple of hours and many tequila shots (peer pressure - har har har) later, I retired back in my room. This was around midnight. Now, normally I'm all up for an all nighter but I was awake for over 17 hrs, plus I was jet lagged.

Valentines Day + Cotillion + Food + Fashion + Injury

Happy Valentine's

---

What does Valentine's day mean to you?

According to Wiki, "it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, candy, giving of flowers and donations to charity."

Today, there are anti-valentine's people EVERYWHERE. Both single and partnered people despise this day. They complain that it is a Hallmark (card manufacturer) conspiracy who want to capitalise on card sales, or rose growers who want to take advantage of unsuspecting lovers (with roses up to $100 each), or chocolate manufacturers (Lindt, Darrell Lea, etc.) making us fat and finally Australia Post racking it in, almost as much as Mother's Day. Can it get any worse?

But out there....is hope. People out there still believe in Valentine's day. These heroes stand up against the anti-Valentine's villains and courageously send their loved one flowers, candy and poems. If you're one of these people, never give up, never surrender! You are the hope left to keep a burning flame alive.

Below is a snap of some Valentine's gifts some dude was guarding at Central station. What a champion.

Why bother do you ask?

The sight of your loved one being surprised by a serendipitous moment from you. Her eyes opening in shock when you present a gift at the most unsuspecting moment, and when she or you feel the emotions that sparked the start of your beautiful relationship.

*sigh*

Which side am I on?

Why ofcourse, I'm all for Valentine's day! ^_^

I had my own plans today but I have this which is one of four gifts I had on offer:

Cute eh? It's a pig, which tie's in with Chinese New Year and it has a pink and red heart wand.

---

Pix from Anna's 18th Cotillion

Don't they all look hawt? ^_^

More pix of cousins and guests below:

My cuz Anna is the one towards the left from the middle in the strapless dress with a tiara.

The pic below is part of Anna's cake which I hovered near by like a hawk before the ceremony. There were seven, yes, SEVEN tiers of cake. Each one had it's own candy flowers and came in ube cake form. I drooled staring at the cake, but they pushed me away, thinking I'd eat it all for myself....which I would.

It's pink, Anna's favourite colour and it sure is one pretty cake, that also tastes delicious.

---

Food

Whilst doing some shopping I ate at a Japanese restaurant and had this dish, teriyaki chicken ramen noodle soup.

It was nice and the waitress lady said in a very cute, Japanese accent influenced English way: "Hope you enjoy your meal." How adorable.

And of course, how can I not forget to mention my standard Super Slurpee for the day? Today's flavour is Tropical (?), unfortunately they weren't really specific on what tropical fruit were chosen.

[-_-]

---

Fashion

Not wasting any opportunity whilst I was out and about looking what else to buy for Valentine's, I did some shopping for eerrrmmm...........myself.

I picked up this awesome camo green LRG jacket and a pair of swanky checkered shorts which are styled similar to Bermuda shorts.

And if I match them shorts with some preppy gear I have, I will look like one of these guys:

How freakin' hilarious! >_<

Injury

Here is the culprit of my woes for the last two years. My right knee. F#!!#*!# %#!(%#!*!#. I hate this knee, ever since I tore cartilage and ligament in it 2 years ago, it's been nothing but trouble. Any sport aggravates my injury, causing it to weaken and then the next day fragile and brittle. After seeing a doctor a while back, he said due to the extent of the injury I need treatment (surgery), or I will forever be stuck with this problem.

Now, to find time to have the surgery, including a minimum of 3 months on crutches and bandages.

Doesn't sound like it's worth it right now. I should focus on my career.

Now to have a glass of milk before I get some booty sleep. :p

Mood: exhausted but happy because it's Valentine's and love is all around, but also still sick, so hot flashes all around.

Song of the moment: Goldfrapp - Strict Machine.
